Doctors without boarders is a good place to start.,…………hello?
MD 7 yrs min training in USA
3 USMLE board exam
Board Certification after that
hummmmm pretty good reason(s) u think?
also average med school debt about 200K$ plus 4 yrs of Not working a job after college, add on at least another 250K in lost wages over that time while in school then u get a crappy $ as a intern and resident for another 3 to 6 yrs before u get to the money u r talking about.
any claim not supported by proof or data is snake oil until proven otherwise, esp when the person making the claim is selling it..
look up “doctors without boarders” all of those MD do the work & travel for FREE
no one is critizing a good diet.
just his off the wall unsupported claims about inflamtion, topical lotions, and expensive vitamins.
If true people on chonic steroids, predisone, would have fewer wrinkles adnd better looking skin & live longer all of which is not true.
Incorrect & that is a non sequitur, Vixxox only had a higher rate of complications at the max dose. the reg dose had the same adverse events as otc advil, celebrex or any nsaid. this data was founded by double blinded studies by the way, however merck did not discolose the higher rates of adverse event @ the higer dose, that was the problem, not the scientifc method or DB studies which remain the gold standard.
I am not promoting the supplements or creams or whatever else Perricone is selling, rather I would suggest adopting a diet that is 50% vegetable, 25 % fruit and 25 % high quality proteins like cold water fish, flax seeds, nuts and omega 3 eggs and limited amount of grass fed meat. Spend your money on a high quality juicer, a high quality blender and seed grinder. Prepare most of your fruit and vegetables as juices and smoothies and watch the inflammation disappear or greatly reduce.
I always find it amusing when MDs criticize any non medical therapy with the argument that those promoting it have a financial motive. MDs obviously have their own financial motives in fostering the idea that the medical profession should have the exclusive unquestioned authority over peoples health care needs. Medical doctors are among the most highly paid members of our society with a vested interest in maintaining their status. I don’t know to many that work for free, do you?
I am amazed that Fendergibs attempts to discredit the value of a diet consisting of mostly vegeatbles and fruits and lean proteins. Anyone who has the discipline to follow this will know for themselves in a relatively short time that their inflammation will go down. Fendergibs champions the medical double blind study model as the gold standard. This is the model that brought Vioxx on the market for treating inflammation, resulting in thousands of deaths. Amazing!
Helpful to how to market & make unsubstantiated medical claims without any proof the back and up.
how is the Dr measuring inflammation? if he says one food is inflammatory & one food his anti-inflammatory, than you should be able to measure the foods affect through common laboratory measures of inflammation, such as CRP or sedimentation rate. This would be easy to do, eat the anti-inflammatory foods that he mentions and then measure the sed rate/CRP rate over time on that diet. If what he says is true then the anti-inflammatory markers will be reduced. No studies exist proving his claim.
thanks, however respectfully request that u consider doing some research of your own, start by google “the skeptial view of perricone”. At least give yourself different view. And remember when we buy a product, and pay good money for it , one is already biased. It is always best to obatain info from an unbiased sorce.
Congratulations on your research. I wholeheartedly respect your initiative in quest for the truth for yourself. In additon,You make a very compelling argument. However, I still disagree based on my experience. Therefore, I have no choice but to restate my claim that it’s different strokes for different folks issue.
It is also not about agreeing or disagreeing, it is about engaging in the scientific method, having a theory or a claim and backing up with proof, not personal opinion or observation which is highly subject to bias. In the doctor knows well. Yale in 2002 removed their association with the doctor after many of his books came out without any clinical double-blind studies the backup claims. After which he gave Michigan state Univ 10 million to be one their associate prof to maintain credibility.
There also can be a lot of harm in a substantiated, over-the-counter products that are not regulated by the FDA. Not only is the foul financially, with his over priced expensive products but also healthwise, interaction wise, with real medications. Google t” the skeptical view of Perricone”. it was written by 2 MDs who have no financial interest for against his products. They break down the statements made by Dr. perricoine and explain how erroneous and un scientific they are.
Incorrect, I’m not basing it on my own personal experiences as those would be biased. I Am basing on the fact that he has no double-blind test to prove any of his products or or theroy. As a physician that trained at Michigan state University, Dr.Perricone is fully aware of the value and need of double-blind testing, instead he uses M.D. as a marketing tool only without any evidence the back up any of his claims. this is expensive snake oil, nothing more nothing less, unless proven otherwise.
I agree to disagree! However,I can attest that the recommendations of Dr. Perricone that I chose to follow have successfully worked for me. So I think it is obvious in the matter between you and I that the old adage holds true “different strokes for different folks”. If it doesn’t work for you – fine – move on. Those of us who choose to embrace and support Dr. Perricone’s theory will continue to do so. No harm no foul!
I did , there is not pubmed study in medical lit that supports or proves any of this claims. He has a study on glycolic acid & shiatake Fx mushroon extract with marginal results. Nothing on ALA , neuropeptides, his vitamins, his diet, vit c ester, except Retinal A which is in multiple products much cheaper than his
Agreed. Sun exposure, smoking and aging are not the only proven causes for wrinkles. Hormone imbalance will cause you to age really fast, and that’s usually what causes premature aging in women especially. I would know…I’m 28 and still look good, but I have been experiencing hormone hell for the past few years and have noticed signs of aging appearing overnight it seems. Every expert and doctor I’ve talked to all say this is due to ‘hormonal aging.’
I agree – Dr. P. does know what he’s talking about. I have followed his diet suggestions and have had good results. Unfortunately Dr. P’s skin care line is a bit pricey for me being a student but I did find the supplements at the health food store and they worked wonders. I can just imagine the results of Dr. P’s products with full potency. I think our pal “fengergibs” needs to do more research or just let it be.
This is a very helpful video – thanks.
If his inflamation theory about wrinkles were true then people on chonic steriod use (predisone) would have fewer wrinkles but they dont. None of his products have any double blinded clinical studies or data to support any of his claims concerning improving appearence or wrinkles with the use of his products with neuropeptides, vit c ester or alpha lipoic acid . The only proven causes of wrinkles are sun exposure and smoking and aging ie time & (gravity)
